This passed week I came across a great Japanese learning book. I had a look and it is available on Amazon.com. The book is called 13 Secrets for Speaking Fluent Japanese. It is a great book for both the beginner and advanced Japanese learner. It has many great hints and tricks to improve you Japanese speaking. The examples in the book are in both Japanese and in romaji so it is truly set for all levels of learning. If you can pick a copy of this book please do I highly recommend it.

Shishimai is the Japanese Lion Dance. This Lion dance came from China many year ago and the Japanese have developed their own style. There are many different kinds of Shishimai dance in Japan depending on the region. As well the style of the Lion is different. There are styles with two and three people making up the lion. As well as pair dancing with 2 Lions. Usually Taiko (Japanese Drums) provide the music for the dance. Shishimai dances are usually held in the spring and fall. This is related to bringing in a good harvest. There are also Shishimai dances around the new year.
