Gimu-Kyoiku is the Compulsory Education System in Japan. It consists of 6 years of Elementary school and 3 years of Junior High school. The school year in Japan starts in April and ends in march. There are usually 3 semesters but recently there have been 2 semesters years in some schools. The Education System is run by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. They over see text books, curriculum and other school related issues. They make sure that the content is the same at all schools in Japan so there is an uniformity of the education system. In Japan most students wear uniforms, however recently as well some school no longer use uniforms. After a student is finished with the compulsory education system they have may options of High schools and technical schools to continue their education.

I now have the January 2005 update up. There are two new articles and a new poll. I hope that all you will have a great 2005. Next Saturday I would like to update the private messenger software. I would like to do a brand new clean install of it. So if you could by Saturday December 22, 2005 save all of the message you would like to keep as the new clean in stall will delete everything. Sorry about this but it is the best and safest way to update the system. I thank you for your cooperation.

Yukata are the informal Kimono that you see people wear in the summer in Japan. They are also found many hotels and resorts to be worn during your stay. They are much simpler than formal Kimono. In wearing Yukata socks are not worn but in bare feet wearing Geta a Japanese wooden clog. During the summer Yukata are warn at summer festivals and Obon dance festivals. Many times in the west you will see Yukata being sold as kimono because of their cheap price. When you are in Japan during the summer try wearing a Yukata and go and enjoy a summer festival!
